Issues surrounding the protection of mankind's cultural property have become more and more prominent in recent years. Warfare, economic development and religious and cultural intolerance are threatening our shared inharitance. IADAA is actively participating in efforts to redress the balance. An open trade in cultural objects has been vitally important in the stimulation of interest on the part of the wider public in ancient cultures and their remains. Antiquarians were active in the very earliest stages of archaeological research. Following in this tradition, IADAA is happy to take up the new challenges coming by encouraging responsible trade in ancient art.
In recent years and much to our regret, we have come to notice that much information on the trade in antiquities is extremely inaccurate. This site is designed for all people who want to know more about the importance of a responsible trade in antiquities and its contribution to the protection of cultural property.
