The Galleria Serodine was founded 60 years ago by Vladimir Rosenbaum. Mr and Mrs Hugelmann worked together with this experienced expert and lover of ancient art for many years. In 1984, Fritz and Yvonne Hugelmann took over the gallery from Vladimir Rosenbaum and run it since.

The ancient works of art come for the most part from private family collections and auction sales. They date from 3000 B. C. to A. D. 300 and involve mainly ceramic vessels, marble sculptures and bronze figures from the Mediterranean area. First and foremost, the Hugelmanns buy what they like themselves. The criterion is whether would or not they would exhibit an object at their own home, too, or collect it for that matter. They would not dream of doing anything less for their customers.

The present Galleria Serodine SA is located in the old patrician house called “Casa Vacchini” right at the heart of the old village of Ascona, next to the church of San Pietro and the parish hall.
