Safani Gallery Inc. was established in 1946 by Edward Safani and is now directed by his son, Alan Safani. With over 60 years of experience, Safani Gallery Inc. holds a prominent position in the international market for ancient art, specializing in museum quality objects from ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt and the Near East.

Alan Safani brings the expertise of a third generation art dealer. His grandfather, Dr. Benjamin Mahboubian, was a noted authority on ancient Near Eastern art, and excavated extensively with the French in Iran in the 1930's, notably in Hamadan and Susa. Mr. Safani’s father, Edward, a pioneer in the ancient art business in America, was a noted authority on Islamic art, ancient glass and the art of the Ancient Near East. Alan Safani has graduate degrees in Classical and Ancient Near Eastern art and archaeology from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University.

Safani Gallery Inc. exhibits at the Winter Antiques Show at the Armory in New York City in January and the Basel Ancient Art Fair in November. We publish an annual catalogue and feature objects on our website, Safani.com.
