The expansion of the international special-purpose trade fair was right
The expansion of the 8th Basel Ancient Art Fair (BAAF) in the Wenkenhof Riding Hall in Riehen nr. Basel was very well received by visitors and exhibitors alike. The international special-purpose trade fair is now the world’s most important sales fair for lovers of ancient art. A superb range of offerings of items of art from Classical Greece and Rome, Egypt, the early advanced civilizations of the Near East, was on display at the stands of 18 leading specialists from Germany, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, England and the USA. The rich vein of works attracts a growing number of international buyers, leading among other things to brisk demand during the course of the fair, which thus not only serves to nurture existing contacts to customers, but to develop new business. Some of the items sold went to private collections, while several exhibits were acquired by renowned museums.
A decisive factor driving the BAAF’s success is the fact that buyers can purchase there with confidence. This has emerged as a crucial argument in the current economic situation and led to countless deals being closed. All the exhibitors are members of the International Association of Dealers in Ancient Art (IADAA), which guarantees the high quality of the items on sale, above all that they comply with stringent guidelines as regards authenticity and provenience.
The 9th Basel Ancient Art Fair (BAAF) will take place from November 2-7, 2012.
